What is Your Response?
What does God want us to do with the good news that Jesus died in our place so we can be forgiven of our sins and given the gift of salvation? The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is...patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

God wants you to respond to the good news of the Gospel with repentance and faith. Jesus wants you to respond to what He did for you on the cross in repentance and faith. Jesus declared in Mark 1:15 “...repent and believe in the Gospel.”
What does it mean to repent? To repent of our sins means to turn away from our rebellion against God. When we repent and turn away from our sin we are turning to God in faith. Faith trusts God and what He provided for us through Jesus Christ.
Faith is trusting in Jesus to save you from your sins. The Bible says in John 3:17, “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.”
What happens when a person is saved by Jesus? The amazing thing that happens is that all our sins are credited to Jesus who took the punishment for them, and the righteousness of Jesus is credited to us when we place our trust in what He has done for us!
That’s what faith means—to rely on Jesus, to trust in Him alone to provide us forgiveness and salvation from God!
If we turn away from our sin and turn to God through faith in the Lord Jesus and what He has done, we are saved and born again into a new and eternal life with God our Creator. Now that’s good news!
What is your response to the good news that Jesus has died for your sin?
If that is your desire to respond in faith and repentance, you can tell God in words like these…
“Jesus, I know I can’t save myself, and I know you have promised to save those who repent and put their faith in you alone. Thank You, God, for loving me, a sinner, and for sending Your Son to pay the penalty of my sin. Right now I put my trust in His death and resurrection for my salvation and receive the eternal life that You offer me through Him. I trust you Jesus to forgive my sins and give me eternal life. Thank you for dying in my place to make my salvation possible!” Thank You for hearing this prayer, cleansing all my sin through Christ's blood, and accepting me now as Your Child. Teach me and direct me through Your Word and Your Spirit to discover Your purpose and will for my life, Amen"
